Security – Resetting your Mac password

Each time you reset your HS password you have to go through a series of steps so that the Mac can sync up with the new password. This has to be done each time you reset your HS password.

Follow these steps:

1. Assure you are using a UCI Health WiFi or wired network

2.Restart your Mac

3. Click on your account on the FileVault screen and type in your previous password

4. Wait

5. Type in your HS login account on the login screen and type in your new password

6. Click to update Keychain password

7. Wait for Mac to login

8. Restart

9. Click on your account on the FileVault screen and type in your new password

Troubleshooting:

  • Off the network the Mac will continue to rely on your previous password
  • If on 2nd restart (Step 8) you find yourself having to use your previous password, go to Step 5 and continue with the steps once more. Note that you will not be prompted toupdate your Keychain password (Step 6) on the second attempt.
